But according to government-affiliated sources, the true goal of the prohibition is to keep Senator Akpoti's followers from getting together to celebrate her return.

Governor Ododo also banned rallies and public meetings of any kind that would disturb the calm in the statement.

"We have received intelligence reports suggesting that some individuals are planning to stage violent rallies, disguised as political and religious agitations, to create a platform for destruction and breakdown of law and order," the statement continued.

The government has implemented the following policies to stop such incidents: "A complete prohibition on all rallies and public gatherings until further notice."

Control of security convoys entering the state, which necessitates prior authorization from the deploying services' state commanders.

"After a crisis that claimed two lives, fishing operations in Kogi Local Government Area will be suspended until peace is restored."

"Deployment of security operatives to affected areas to restore peace and maintain law and order."

In the statement, the administration reassured citizens that these restrictions are only temporary and essential for everyone's benefit, and it urged them to continue being law-abiding, watchful, and helpful to security forces.

"Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or movements to the appropriate security authorities," the message continued. "Together, we can continue to build a safer and more secure Kogi State."

One of the main challenges to holding Bello accountable has been identified as the governor's impunity.

Many people have criticized the convoy movement prohibition, believing it is an attempt to suppress dissent and opposition.

Senator Akpoti's supporters have pledged to find alternative ways to celebrate her homecoming, despite the governor's efforts to prohibit them.
