Breaking News on 'Solo Leveling’ Season 3: Fans Won’t Want to Miss This!

The article was first published on March 30 and then again on March 31.
The season 2 finale of Solo Leveling just aired, and viewers naturally want to see more from Jin-woo and the rest of the cast as his power keeps growing. However, what about Solo Leveling's third season? Real news is surprisingly scarce, and what is available is unsatisfactory.
Despite Solo Leveling's enormous success—it has received over 700,000 reviews on Crunchyroll, making it the most popular program ever—no one connected to the series has confirmed that season three will air. Although it might appear obvious and an announcement might be on the horizon, we have not yet received any official word.

Atsushi Kaneko, the series' animation producer, previously stated in a video feature that the season 2 finale will mark the series' end for the time being, adding that it "may or may not" go on from there.
I mean, I don't believe that, and I believe he's simply dancing because season 3 hasn't been formally announced yet. Even so, it's a little annoying to hear, and at the very least, it means that, unlike seasons 1 and 2, which were separated by just one year, we will soon be facing a considerably wider void between seasons 2 and 3.
At the very least, they won't have to make stuff up as they go because Solo Leveling's 14 online novels serve as the source material.

With a very straightforward concept based on the fundamentals of video games, Solo Leveling has become a breakthrough hit at a level we've rarely seen in anime. To close dungeon portals, hunters with varying power levels must slay bosses.
However, one Hunter, Jin-woo, may actively raise his power level over time, making him practically the most powerful person on the planet and able to easily defeat top-level monsters and raids.
Naturally, he survived the recent raid in which many S-rank Hunters were killed, and everyone is eager to see what he will do next.

Although having those two seasons one year apart might have been convenient, considering the lack of an announcement, the cryptic nature of the interviews, and the reality that many animes actually begin to spread out their release dates over time, I don't think we'll be watching season 3 in January 2026 at this time. We're hoping for more formal news soon.
Update (3/31): We at least know that the time between seasons won't be a year, since I don't think Solo Leveling will not be back for season 3. I decided to look for another reference point.

- Demon Slayer season 1 release date - April 2019
- Demon Slayer season 2 release date - October 2021
- Season Slayer season 3 release date - April 2023
- Demon Slayer season 4 release date - May 2024
We can at least get an average from the fact that the gaps with Demon Slayer have been closing over time rather than widening. Thirteen months is the last, followed by eighteen months and thirty months. That's an average of 20 months. September 2026 would be 20 months after January 2025 if we were using Solo Leveling for that. So there you have it if you're looking for something that might be a reliable estimate.
At least the wait isn't two years lengthy, but it's still a long one. However, it's also important to remember that Demon Slayer's episode count decreased with time, going from 26 to 18 to 11 to 8. The math may be slightly distorted if Solo Leveling performs 12 once more.
