The 5 Bold Moves Peter Obi Would Make as President
Peter Obi lists five things he would have done differently as President
The Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again attacked President Bola Tinubu's administration, claiming that it has failed to fulfill several of its pledges to Nigerians.

Obi feels the president hasn't had any discernible effect on Nigerians in the nearly two years of Tinubu's rule.

On the evening of Tuesday, April 1, 2025, the former governor of Anambra State made an appearance on Arise Television's Prime Time program to evaluate the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

According to Obi, he would have made sure that Nigerians witnessed significant change in important areas if he had been president.

The LP chieftain listed some of the things he would have done differently, saying that in two years, he would have addressed corruption and lowered the cost of governance in a way that Nigerians could see.

"How many years has the President been there today? Two years, and you could see where we are. In other words, you have two years to make changes. You would have noticed significant changes in important places if I had been there in two years. My approach to corruption would have been direct. People would notice and feel the difference if I had lowered the cost of governance," he remarked.

Obi emphasized that 70% of the healthcare industry is currently non-operational and stated that his administration would have made sure borrowed funds were allocated appropriately.

Seventy percent of our main healthcare system is currently non-functional, yet we have spent more than N35 billion on a conference center. Which conference is it? Who will attend the conference? He argued, "You must invest your money wisely. You would have seen borrowed funds invested in important areas."

The former governor used the size of Nigeria's territory to make it a rice-producing nation, using Bangladesh as an example.

“In Bangladesh, a country with one 148,000 km² of land is producing about 60 million metric tons of rice and us, with over six times that size of land cannot do 10 percent of that,” Obi said.

Finally, Obi criticized the way the program was carried out even if he supported President Tinubu's decision to devalue the naira.

He added that floating the currency is intended to boost production and that if he were president, he would have done so in a planned way.

"Devaluation is perfectly acceptable," he stated, "but I would have let the naira float if I had done it in a planned way. Productivity will be achieved. By weakening your currency and letting it float, you can increase production, which will enable you to export and attract buyers.

"Floating the naira without productivity is a double whammy," he said.
