'Hands Off!' Protests Against Trump, Elon Musk Draw Huge Crowds Across U.S.

On Saturday, thousands of citizens flocked to the streets of major US cities, including downtown Los Angeles, to demonstrate against the policies of President Donald Trump and his billionaire supporter, Elon Musk.

According to the Los Angeles Times, demonstrators of all ages chanted their disapproval of what they called a growing alliance between government power and billionaire interests, as well as a methodical undermining of essential public services, from Pershing Square to City Hall.

Under the slogan "Hands Off!" the crowd in Los Angeles erupted into the tens of thousands.

What began as a nonviolent gathering in Pershing Square turned into a flaming procession that, by dusk, had paralyzed downtown Los Angeles.

Many people in the crowd shared her anger, citing government services, transgender rights, and attacks on immigrants as the last straw.

More than 1,100 "Hands Off!" demonstrations and gatherings are planned for Saturday in all 50 U.S. states, according to a report published by DoroTV on Friday.

These came in reaction to the massive reductions in the federal staff, which were purportedly managed by Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and a Trump adviser.

The purpose of these nationwide protests was to express disapproval of the drastic cuts to the federal workforce, which the organizers say are a part of a larger attempt to demolish public programs like public education, Medicaid, and Social Security.

The American Civil Liberties Union, the Service Employees International Union, and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund were among the more than 150 organizations that organized the demonstrations, according to Yahoo News.
