NIMC adjusts fees for identity services, cites rising costs

The National Identity Management Commission has announced an immediate change to its service rates following a thorough evaluation aimed at aligning fees with existing operational costs.
Kayode Adegoke, Head of NIMC's Corporate Communications Unit, announced the modification on Thursday, marking the first price revision in more than a decade.
The agency did not disclose details of the previous or revised charges, but stated that the updated prices would be published on its website on Friday.
The agency stressed that the higher costs are intended to maintain the quality and integrity of its identity management services while keeping them affordable and accessible to Nigerians.

Part of the statement read, “After a decade of maintaining the same pricing structure, NIMC has conducted a comprehensive review to ensure alignment with current operational costs and industry standards.”
It added, “The revised pricing structure aims to maintain the quality and integrity of NIMC’s services while ensuring affordability and accessibility for Nigerians. The new prices will take effect immediately.”
Further, NIMC issued a stern warning to all front-end partners to strictly adhere to the new pricing structure. Any partner found charging above the approved rates will face severe sanctions, including the potential revocation of their licenses.
The commission asked the public to report any violations to its Inspectorate and Enforcement Unit by emailing ieu@nimc.gov.ng or calling 08155015388.
The amended pricing structure is now published on the NIMC's official website, www.nimc.gov.ng, providing complete transparency to all Nigerians and stakeholders. The commission advised the public to visit the website for further information on the new charges.
Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, NIMC's Director-General and CEO, thanked Nigerians, sister agencies, and partners for their sustained assistance.
She thanked President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, harmonization partners, and the management and staff of NIMC for their contributions to the development of a strong national identification system.
