You’re the real betrayer, NNPP fires back at Kwankwaso
Rabiu Kwankwaso has come under fire from the New Nigeria Peoples Party for calling members of the Kwankwassiya Movement who switched to the APC traitors, claiming that Kwankwaso is the one who broke away.

Remember how Kwankwaso, the national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and a former governor of Kano State, criticized certain important NNPP members in Kano State who recently switched to the APC, calling their acts a betrayal of trust?

When several caucus members of the Kwankwasiya movement from the state's Takai Local Government Area paid Kwankwaso a visit on Friday evening, he made this statement at his home on Miller Road in Kano.

Senator Abdulrahman Kawu, who represents the Kano South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, recently defected to the APC along with some federal lawmakers from Kano State.

Kwankwaso cannot speak for the NNPP, according to a statement made public in Lagos on Monday by Dr. Agbo Major, the party's national chairman.

He declared, "Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and his supporters, led by Dr. Ahmed Ajuji, have been expelled from the NNPP."

Major claims that the Kwankwasiya movement is not a political party but rather a group that was accepted into the NNPP following the 2023 presidential election, with their leader serving as the party's spokesperson.

Major claimed that Kwankwaso's criticism of movement members who defected to the APC as party traitors was amusing to the NNPP.

Following the 2023 presidential elections, the NNPP ended its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasia movement. As a result, participants of the movement are legally free to join any political party they choose because they are Nigerian citizens.

"The same Kwankwaso who attempted to take over the party and violated the NNPP's confidence is the one accusing others of betraying them.

According to the constitution, Nigerians are free to join and be a member of any political party.

As a result, Kwankwaso, who has long since lost control of his Kwankwasiya organization, is powerless to prevent his followers from joining the APC or any other Nigerian political party.

When Kwankwaso attempted to bite the fingers that handed him the presidential ticket on trust without any financial responsibilities, he lost all respect from his supporters.

Since he was kicked out of the NNPP a long time ago, Kwankwaso need to register his own party or find another political platform to take over.

His members switching to the APC merely indicates that, similar to his attempted takeover of the NNPP, which was registered in 2002 prior to his arrival in 2023, he has also lost control of the movement.

Major claimed that Kwankwaso's dismissal from the NNPP and the subsequent defection of his supporters marked the end of his political career.

Recall that a complaint challenging the validity of the NNPP's current leadership under its founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, and national chairman, Major, was dismissed by the Abuja Federal High Court. The claim was made by some Kwankwaso supporters.

Ajuji and 20 other people filed the lawsuit with the intention of nullifying the power of the NNPP's executive leadership, which includes Chief Felix Chukwurah (Deputy National Chairman), Mr. Tony Christopher Obioha, and Dr. Oginni Olaposi (National Secretary).

Because the aforementioned officials were expelled from the NNPP, the claimants had sought the court to prevent them from holding meetings, holding congresses, or preside over the party's national convention.
