About 12 vehicles, including eight police vans were stationed outside the building and at least 25 mobile police officers were sighted outside the building, located on Haile Selassie Street, Asoroko.
Premium Times reported that about half a dozen EFCC detectives were also seen standing outside, with even more likely to be inside. Initially, it was thought that the operatives EFCC were responsible for the raid but Uwujaren, EFCC spokesperson denied that the EFCC was responsible for the raid.
Unconfirmed reports have it that the police might have been acting on a tip-off, but the police authorities are yet to issue a statement about the raid. “Our men were there for between four and five hours and they carried out a thorough search,” a police source speaking on the raid told The Cable.
The raid on Senator’s Goje’s residence comes shortly after the EFCC recovered $43 million, £27,000 and N23 million from an apartment in Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos state.
