Nedu quits Honest Bunch podcast amid controversy

Nigerian media figure Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, known widely as Nedu Wazobia, has declared that he is leaving The Honest Bunch podcast.

His departure comes after controversy surrounding a recent episode with comedian and reality TV star Deeone, who claimed that social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) had an attraction to men.

VDM replied by accusing Nedu of having made ongoing requests for him to appear on the podcast since 2024 and of purportedly having offered to purchase a car for him as an inducement. He also asserted that Nedu had contacted him several times, implying that this was the basis for Deeone's accusations against him.

VDM cautioned Nedu about continuing to communicate via his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, issuing a threat to reveal supposed transactions with female celebrities if the issue continued.

“I’ve gained a lot of perspective over the past week. It has been an amazing experience to host The Honest Bunch Podcast—a journey characterized by candid discussions, courageous viewpoints, and a readiness to address challenging subjects. “However, this responsibility has brought with it an excessive amount of scrutiny, hostility, and baseless allegations that are starting to affect him personally,” he stated.

Nedu expressed that his departure was essential for his well-being, family, and the podcast's integrity, hoping it would resolve the ongoing controversy.

In light of recent developments, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast.

I don’t take this decision lightly, but I believe it’s necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show. Although I have always been devoted to open and honest conversations, when they result in ongoing assaults and distortions, it is evident that retreating is the best way to proceed.

“It is my sincere hope that this decision puts an end to the negativity surrounding my name and allows The Honest Bunch Podcast to continue thriving. I continue to be dedicated to promoting discussion in manners that inspire significant involvement and development, and I eagerly anticipate fresh prospects that resonate with that outlook.

“I wish the show continued success and extend my gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey,” the statement concluded.
