A$AP Rocky Found Not Guilty In Felony Assault Case After Rejecting Plea Deal

Following accusations that he had fired a gun at his former buddy and fellow rapper A$AP Relli during an altercation in 2021, Rakim Meyers, better known by his stage name A$AP Rocky, was found not guilty on two charges of first-degree assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

During the trial, A$AP Relli, also known as Terell Ephron, informed jurors that a bullet Meyers shot from a gun had grazed his hand. Meyers' attorney, Joe Tacopina, contended that the rapper was carrying a dummy gun that was unable to shoot actual bullets.

According to the Associated Press, Meyers thanked jurors for "saving" his life after the judgment was announced and rushed into the courtroom's gallery to embrace supporters, including his partner, Rihanna
After turning down a plea agreement last month that promised six months in jail in exchange for one of the assault charges being dropped, Meyers, who did not testify in his own defense during the trial, could have spent up to 24 years in prison.

During a dispute between the two ex-friends in 2021, Ephron claims Meyers drew a gun on him, and a bullet grazed his knuckle. During the trial, Meyers' defense team claimed that the rapper was carrying a blank-shooting toy gun and that Meyers had fired it because Ephron had attacked one of their group members the night of the altercation.

Given that Meyers will be the main act at the hip-hop music festival Rolling Loud next month, the case against him cast doubt on the rapper's career and future. Meyers is also appearing in "Highest 2 Lowest," a crime thriller directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington, which is scheduled to be released in theaters this summer.
