Ex-Minister's Alleged Fraud: How It Shakes the Nation's Trus

Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, a former minister of women's affairs, spent her first night in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday.
Ohanenye was questioned by anti-graft agency agents on Thursday regarding her alleged role in the diversion, procurement process violations, and misappropriation of N138,413,253.89.
The money was purportedly embezzled as the ministry's 2023 budgeted allotment was being disbursed.
According to a senior commission source, the former minister came to EFCC headquarters at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday and was questioned by agents about her suspected role in the scam.

According to the source, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the former minister of women's affairs, is being questioned by investigators on her suspected involvement in the diversion, procurement process violations, and misappropriation of N138,413,253.89.
She is currently being questioned about her alleged role in the scam after arriving to the commission's headquarters at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday.
"The EFCC's investigations showed that money donated to the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative was misappropriated."
At the time this story was filed, attempts to get a response from Dele Oyewale, the EFCC's Head of Media and Publicity, were unsuccessful.
According to the DoroTV, after the 19th Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House in October 2024, Ohanenye was one of five ministers dismissed of their posts.
She is currently being questioned about her alleged role in the scam after arriving to the commission's headquarters at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday.
