UK Teen Who Planned School Massacre Jailed For Life

In September 2024, Nicholas Prosper, then 18 years old, killed his mother Juliana Falcon, 48, sister Giselle, 13, and brother Kyle, 16, with a shotgun at their home in Luton, north of London. He also wound himself with more than 100 knives.

"Notoriety was your goal. As she sentenced the now 19-year-old on Wednesday, Judge Bobbie Cheema-Grubb remarked, "You wanted to be known posthumously as the world's most famous school shooter of the 21st century."

When Prosper was arrested, he revealed police about his "Friday the 13th" plan to murder two instructors and scores of students aged four and five at a local elementary school he had attended before killing himself.

He claimed that his goal was to carry out an assault more lethal than the Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook massacres in the United States, but that his plot was derailed when his mother awoke before he could murder his family while they were asleep.

Neighbors were startled by the loud altercation and phoned the police.


He put a book titled "How to Kill your Family" on her body after he killed her.

The judge declared, "You specifically aimed to imitate and surpass Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old American who at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut, shot and killed 20 children and six adults in 2012."

She went on to say, "You targeted 34 people, one more than the deadliest school shooting in recent American history, which took place at Virginia Tech in 2007."

At St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Luton, Prosper had sketched classroom layouts and scribbled the words "kill all" next to each one.

The court remarked, "You recorded yourself enacting the murder in the kitchen."

Prosper, who experts said showed symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), was handed a life sentence, with a minimum term of 49 years.

Taking into account the time already served, he will spend a minimum of 48 years and 177 days in jail.

The judge stated that Prosper, who postponed the hearing by refusing to leave his cell, had not expressed regret and that "you remain highly dangerous and it may be you will never be released."

Prosper "existed in an online world, choosing little real life contact with others" after being asked to drop out of school in 2023, the court was informed.

The judge went on to say that an examination of his online behavior showed a fascination with "notorious murderers, perpetrators of mass school shootings around the world, and rapists."

Juliana Falcon's ex-husband and the perpetrator's father, Ray Prosper, wrote a statement telling the court that "the pain of our loss will never be healed."

A piece of my spirit also perished that day when I got the terrible news. We have lost four family members, therefore this is a lose-lose situation for everyone.

The local police department was "utterly shocked and appalled by the sickening actions of this individual," according to Bedfordshire Police Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy.
