Sen. Imasuen: Why the Supreme Court's LP Leadership Decision Isn't What It Seems
Supreme Court decision on LP leadership may have come too late? — Sen. Imasuen
The Supreme Court's ruling on the party's leadership may have come too late, according to Senator Neda Imasuen, a member of the Labour Party (LP), who represents the Edo South Senatorial District and is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions. He claims that the party has suffered enough harm that it may not be able to be saved before the general elections in 2027.

In addition, Imausen praised President Bola Tinubu for his tax reform law and the numerous other audacious choices he has made to put Nigeria in a position of wealth.

When Imasuen welcomed the leaders and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists' Edo State Council's Correspondents Chapel in Benin City, he was speaking.

According to Imasuen, “We sincerely welcome the Supreme Court judgement that sacked Barrister Julius Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party Nigeria.

"It is very regrettable that a lot has happened in the Labour Party. Because it became a personal matter, Abure, the chairman at the time, in my judgment, truly had no interest in the Labour Party.

Instead of protecting the party, they decided to fight and rip it to bits because it no longer really mattered to them. That sort of thing was not what i expected from someone who led the party at the time.

But where do we go from here is the dilemma that now faces me and all of us.

Nonetheless, he pledged to disclose his desire to remain at the party at the appropriate time.

Regarding Tinubu's insistence on tax reforms despite opposition, he asserted that Tinubu advocated that the right steps be done, but that the president may have made compromises because he wanted a second term.

"There were a lot of things that happened on the Senate floor that no one saw when we were faced with the tax bill," he said, "especially when we had closed doors and no cameras, and people thought we were sharing money." But sometimes, just because you disagree with us, we snap at each other and use derogatory language.
