The children were in town for the 12th Annual Chess & Community Conference, where they not only participated but also won several prizes. Davido is currently in New York for his "5ive" tour.

Davido made time to spend time with the kids despite having a full tour schedule. They asked him about his path into music, laughed together, and played chess with him, making it a healthy and enjoyable occasion.

The event obviously impacted Davido, as he claimed that meeting them motivated him to deliver an even more impactful performance that evening.

Tunde Onakoya, the creator of Chess in Slums Africa, shared a video of the children interacting with Davido and commended the celebrity for always showing up and being a stand-up man. He remembered how, after performing all night, Davido came up to support him during his effort to set a Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon in Times Square last year.

Davido has once again made time for these up-and-coming champions. According to Tunde, "he met the kids today, and I'm sure it's an experience they can't wait to tell their friends back home." “Thank you for supporting and inspiring the kids.”
