Congo 0 - 2 Nigeria - AFCON Qualifiers

Nigeria has finally moved a place up, and at least, a little sure of qualifying for the AFCON 2015 in Equatorial Guinea next year after a poor start. The match ended 2-0 in favour of the African Champions, a match that got the Congolese fans angry and they almost broke into the pitch.

The first half of the game was dominated by the Congolese. They actually failed to convert many attempts. The Nigerian goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama was superb - he saved several opportunities the Congolese got, and even stopped a penalty shot. Mike Obi could have been the man of the match if he converted at least one of his several attempts. But the Chelsea midfielder did make some nice moves and various attempts.

Ikechukwu Uche scored a penalty goal when Emenike was brought down from a reckless tackle by the Congolese goal keeper.

Aaron Samuel who was introduced in the second half changed the game a little bit. He fought with the ball and when no one expected, he shot from the flank, a nicely placed clinical strike, which the keeper couldn't save.

This was the goal that angered the Congolese fans. Stones were thrown into the stadium before the security operatives brought calmness back to the stadium. The match resumed, but it was already concluded.

Nigeria will now face South Africa on wednesday by 5pm Nigerian Time where they would be hoping to win again. Surely, Congo will need to defeat Sudan too, to try to disturb Nigeria who are already 3 goals ahead of them.

And Congo missed a penalty opportunity when Vincent Enyeama saved one.
