The Political Drama in Rivers: Wike and Fubara's Latest Clash Explained
Understanding the Tension: Inside the Rivers Political Crisis
The suspended governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, has been made fun of for his recent remarks by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

Fubara had previously stated that he is not in a rush to take office again.

During Sunday's liturgy of singing in Port Harcourt honoring the late elder statesman Edwin Clark, the suspended governor revealed this.

Fubara stated that his soul had already departed from the role of governor.

"Don't you think I look better? Do you believe that I would be interested in it?

"Are you even aware that I would wish to return there? My spirit had already left that location long ago,” he said.

Fubara, his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly were suspended for six months by President Bola Tinubu.

In addition, Tinubu appointed former navy chief Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator and proclaimed a state of emergency in Rivers State.

The president imposed the suspension as a preventative step to stop the political crisis in Rivers State from getting worse.

The confrontation between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was the cause of the Rivers State crisis.

After Niger Delta militants threatened to attack the state's oil installations, the two were fighting for control of the political resources in the region, which nearly turned into a full-scale security crisis.

Olayinka responded to Fubara's comment by describing a broken marriage and stating that the suspended governor should just choose to step down because his "spirit already left."

"It is not really mandatory to stay in a marriage your spirit already left," Olayinka wrote in a post on X. Just legally opt out.
