Ogun govt shuts down steel factory over deadly explosion

Following an accident that claimed the lives of two factory workers and injured numerous others, the Ogun State Government closed Quantum Steels Nigeria Limited, a steel manufacturing facility situated at KM 16, Ikorodu-Sagamu Road, Ogijo.
This comes right after the police said that they were looking into the industrial accident that happened on Sunday at around six o'clock in the evening.
Seven Nigerian and foreign employees were gravely hurt when one of the factory's machinery exploded.
Lanre Ogunlowo, the state commissioner of police, told DoroTV that he had received indications that two people had perished in the accident.
Joseph Adewale, a firm employee, reported the incident to the Ogijo Police Division, according to Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson in Ogun.

In a statement released Thursday, Mrs. Odutola stated, "Police detectives visited the scene of the incident immediately after receiving the report, conducted an initial assessment, spoke with pertinent parties, and documented evidence, including photographs."
The victims were identified by her as Daniel Bala (male, age 28), Mutiu Olajide (male, age 39), Godwin Solomon (male, age 27), Maduabuchi Onwe (male, age 27), Ajun Kumar (male, age 37), Chandan Kumar (male, age 50), and Rakash Kumar (male, age 30), all of whom were expatriates.
According to Mrs. Odutola, the injured were being treated at Rolayo Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
"To ascertain the circumstances underlying the explosion and guarantee adherence to industrial safety requirements, a comprehensive investigation is still underway. As the investigation goes forward, more information will be shared," she stated.
