Rivers women protest against emergency rule, demand Fubara’s reinstatement
On Friday, women in Rivers State demonstrated against the state's declaration of emergency.

The angry women characterized the emergency rule as a politically driven action designed to weaken democracy.

Nancy Chidi Nwankwo led the ladies in their opposition to the emergency rule, claiming that there was no real threat to national security from the state's current condition of affairs.

The women are calling for the quick reinstatement of Siminalayi Fubara, the elected governor of Rivers State, as well as the restoration of all other democratic institutions.

The demonstrators denounced what they called an unwarranted and intolerable imposition of military control under the cover of a state of emergency, claiming that it was unlawful.

Respected Nigerians, including former presidents and diplomats, were also urged by the group to step in and pressure President Bola Tinubu to undo what they saw as a serious injustice.

The ladies pledged to keep up their defense of freedom, justice, and self-determination and reiterated their dedication to nonviolent resistance.
